If you’re heading to Verbier this winter you’ll be stoked to hear that the connection from Geneva Airport (GVA) is easier than ever. Trains will now go direct from Geneva Airport train station direct to Le Chable, which is the base station for the village and resort of Verbier.
This service will operate on weekends and public holidays throughout the winter and will go live from 13th December 2026.
This cuts out any need to change trains in Martigny, which is not that big a hardship in itself but nice to those of us carting bulking equipment on and off the trains.
The Verbier Express runs from Geneva Airport (GVA) through the city centre and onto Le Chable. Here visitors will need to take either the local Postbus connection up into the resort, or jump on the telecabin/gondola up into Verbier itself.
The journey takes around 2 hours 30 minutes and runs along Lake Geneva, through the towns of Lausanne, Vevey and Montreux offering a scenic transfer and a lovely way to arrive in Verbier. Le Chable itself sits at the base of the mountain and you will need to make your way to your final accommodation either by one of the connection services or with a taxi from the train station.
Tickets for the Postbus from Le Chable to Verbier are CHF6, or the gondola/telecabin is CHF11 for adults and CHF6 for children over five. Both connecting services can be purchased with your train ticket in advance.
Visitors to Switzerland will likely know that booking Swiss trains is already super easy and efficient, with ticket vending terminals in the station at Geneva. You can also purchase tickets in advance online.
