Part of the largest ski area in the world, the Portes du Soleil, Les Gets is preparing for a landmark season. The famous French Alpine village marks 90 years since the launch of its very first ski lift, celebrating its evolution from a traditional farming community into one of Europe’s most popular winter sports destinations.
And seeing as it’s a landmark year, there will be plenty going on in Les Gets throughout winter 2026/27.
Whether you are looking for early-season tracks, family fun, or new terrain additions, here is everything you need to know about visiting Les Gets this winter.
Les Gets 90th Anniversary Highlights
Special 90th Anniversary Red Ski Shows
To honour nine decades of skiing history, Les Gets is hosting special anniversary editions of its iconic Red Ski Show. This ever popular regular event is always worth checking out if you’re in the Morzine/Les Gets area – and of course the anniversary edition will be extra special!
Taking place on February 8, 15, and 22, and March 1, 2027, these evening spectacles will feature high-flying freestyle displays, piste patrol demonstrations, and snow-grooming showcases. Perfect if you’re bringing younger skiers with you…

Circular Economy Chairlift Upgrades
Les Gets is putting sustainability into practice on the slopes. The former Grains d’Or chairlift has been re-purposed for the new Pointe chairlift project on Mont Chéry, replacing three aging installations in one move.
Over on the Chavannes sector, the upgraded eight-seater Rosta chairlift should now absorb the increasing rider capacity.
New Beginner Snowpark
Freestyle newcomers have a fresh playground this season. A brand-new beginner snowpark situated directly beneath the La Croix chairlift replaces the former mini boardercross, offering soft-entry obstacles designed to help riders build confidence.

- Train Discounts: Travelers arriving by train can claim resort discounts via the AlpinExpress initiative.
- Wildlife Protection: Piste operations feature marked winter refuges and visibility markers on lift cables to protect local black grouse populations.
- Zero-Waste Shopping: A new Montagne Verte second-hand outdoor shop opens in the old village center this season, promoting circular fashion and gear re-use.
