Where are Trespass from?

Trespass is a brand originally founded in Scotland in 1938, originally as a supplier of uniforms for the police and outdoors workwear. In the 1960s, the brand started to specialise in outdoor wear and was bought by the Khushi family in the 1980s. With their main offices in Glasgow, Trespass have become known as one of the UK’s best sports and outwear brands.

Trespass have also been hired as the kit suppliers for the Commonwealth games in Glasgow in 2013, and also sponsor the BRITS snow tour team and the Great Britain childrens ski team and ski academy.

In short, Trespass is a well established brand who have gone from strength to strength in recent years. And, as a result, their equipment has also seen an improvement in both quality and style.

Are Trespass ski jackets any good?

As a brand with a strong heritage with outdoor wear, Trespass have a focus on creating high quality technical outdoor wear. Their snowboarding and ski jackets in particular are well constructed and have all the features you would expect from a more expensive jacket. From good waterproofing and wind resistance, to multiple pass pockets and snow skirts, Trespass ski jackets are definitely a good purchase.

Whats more, Trespass jackets are often much cheaper than some of the more premium brands, making Trespass a great budget ski jacket option.

I actually own a Trespass ski jacket which I’ve used for several snowboard trips in the past few years. One of the great things about my Trespass ski jacket is that is very warm. I actually got caught out in a bit of a white out (blizzard) in Slovenia and was very grateful for the excellent insulation on my Trespass snowboarding jacket.

I’ve also used my Trespass jacket to party at the Snowboxx festival (again, a bit of a blizzard on the side of a mountain) and even used it away from the mountains on blustery British coastal walks. So yes, I can testify that the Trespass range of technical mountain wear is definitely good quality and performs when you need it to.

The downside to some of the Trespass gear can be that it is a little bulky. My Trespass jacket was super warm but it was not the most compact of the winter jackets I’ve owned. But if that’s not an issue, then yes Trespass ski wear is excellent.

What does DLX mean on Trespass jackets?

Trespass also uses the acronym DLX on many of their jackets, specifically on their ski jackets. This is like an alternative brand to the Trespass logo. DLX stands for ‘Designed for Life in eXtremes’, which refers to the more cold weather specific technical performance of their clothes. Generally speaking if you see DLX on a Trespass jacket, it will be more specifically designed for cold weather, hiking or mountaineering and for snow and ski.

While DLX is not specifically a ski or snowboard focused branding, it does mean you can rely on these particular garments to deliver the protection required for snow sports.

Trespass for ski and snowboarding review

I have used a couple of Trespass jackets over the years, for both snowboarding and also general use walking on Dartmoor in the winter and such. Both of my Trespass jackets were excellent for wind resistance, keeping me snug and warm in the face of Alpine blizzards and British squally rain. My Trespass jacket was definitely a good buy as it both lasted ages, kept up with the demands of cold weather and had more than ample pockets.

While I mentioned the bulk nature of Trespass ski jackets, I have tried a few Trespass jackets on lately and they are defintiely a lot more compact than they used to be. In fact, from what I can tell, they are taking ski wear a lot more seriously now and have some good gear.
