Les Gets 90th Anniversary Highlights

Special 90th Anniversary Red Ski Shows

To honour nine decades of skiing history, Les Gets is hosting special anniversary editions of its iconic Red Ski Show. This ever popular regular event is always worth checking out if you’re in the Morzine/Les Gets area – and of course the anniversary edition will be extra special!

Taking place on February 8, 15, and 22, and March 1, 2027, these evening spectacles will feature high-flying freestyle displays, piste patrol demonstrations, and snow-grooming showcases. Perfect if you’re bringing younger skiers with you…

The Red Ski show is a popular event in Les Gets this winter

Circular Economy Chairlift Upgrades

Les Gets is putting sustainability into practice on the slopes. The former Grains d’Or chairlift has been re-purposed for the new Pointe chairlift project on Mont Chéry, replacing three aging installations in one move.

Over on the Chavannes sector, the upgraded eight-seater Rosta chairlift should now absorb the increasing rider capacity.

New Beginner Snowpark

Freestyle newcomers have a fresh playground this season. A brand-new beginner snowpark situated directly beneath the La Croix chairlift replaces the former mini boardercross, offering soft-entry obstacles designed to help riders build confidence.

Other Events in Les Gets This Winter

  • Christmas in Les Gets (December 20–24, 2026): Festivities kick off with a brand-new village center show, culminating on Christmas Eve with a street parade, torchlit descent, and fireworks. (Read more: Best Christmas Ski Resorts)
  • Les Gets Winter Trail by Rossignol (January 16, 2027): A night-running race over snow-covered mountain terrain, featuring trail distances ranging from 800 meters to 20 kilometers.
  • Les Gets Comédie (March 11–17, 2027): Combining daytime mountain riding with evening stand-up, this comedy festival brings top performers including Paul Taylor, Elie Semoun, Anne Roumanoff, and Paul de Saint-Sernin to the resort (tickets from €23).
  • 1er Ski Festival (March 20–27, 2027): Designed specifically for adult complete beginners, this dedicated week pairs morning ski lessons with group afternoon activities and social dinners (packages from €699).
  • Solo Skiing with The Ski Gathering: Solo travelers can book hosted group trips designed to connect independent skiers across all ability levels (week stays from €600).

Off-Slope Adventures and Cultural Highlights

One of the great things about Les Gets is that it already offers a great range of things to do off the mountain. With the anniversary celebrations, these have been given a boost with some rejuvenated features,

  • Evening Light Trails: Walk the Alta Lumina enchanted forest path—a one-kilometer night walk brought to life through light projections and ambient soundscapes.
  • Adrenaline & Snow Rides: Ride the four-season mountain coaster at speeds up to 40 km/h, go dog-sledding, or explore snowy trails on guided electric fat-bike tours.
  • Local Culinary Heritage: Visit the historic Perrières cheese dairy (established in 1906) or tour the Museum of Mechanical Music, home to more than 900 working instruments.
  • New Cultural Space: A newly renovated, 750-square-meter media library opens in the village’s historic former presbytery, featuring interactive games rooms, digital cultural spaces, and local history displays.

Sustainability & Eco Initiatives

Like many European ski resorts, there continues to be a push to sustainability across Les Gets, Some initiatives being pushed by the resort include:

  • Train Discounts: Travelers arriving by train can claim resort discounts via the AlpinExpress initiative.
  • Wildlife Protection: Piste operations feature marked winter refuges and visibility markers on lift cables to protect local black grouse populations.
  • Zero-Waste Shopping: A new Montagne Verte second-hand outdoor shop opens in the old village center this season, promoting circular fashion and gear re-use.
